Episode Description

Originally aired August 23, 1937, this episode finds Fibber McGee and Molly checking into a high-end resort hotel, “The Breakers on Lake Lulu,” for some much-needed rest. But what was supposed to be a relaxing getaway quickly turns into a farcical fiasco of mistaken identity, overzealous hospitality, and top-dollar confusion. Mistakenly identified as "Mr. and Mrs. McGraw from Musty Pistol," Fibber and Molly find themselves swept into the hotel's ultra-efficient but utterly inflexible system, where even hometown newspapers and pest control are delivered with military precision. Fibber insists on bringing his guitar for lakeside serenades, but their romantic plans are constantly interrupted by bellboys, Silly Watson, Harpo Wilcox, and a relentless exterminator named Sprayforth. Eventually, the couple escape to a canoe ride under the full moon—only to be capsized by the hotel’s own service speedboat delivering yet another copy of the hometown paper. From luxury run amok to Fibber's exaggerated tales of Hawaiian ukulele invention, Fibber McGee & Molly serve up another riotous episode brimming with satirical wit, slapstick moments, and charming Johnson’s Glow Coat plugs. It's customer service comedy at its finest.
