Episode Description

Originally aired November 1, 1937, this episode features Fibber McGee on an artistic crusade after critiquing the lackluster storefronts of Wistful Vista. When he stumbles upon Kramer’s drugstore window and learns their usual trimmer is a no-show, Fibber leaps at the chance to prove his flair. Armed with a wild “harvest” theme and delusions of display grandeur, he drafts Molly, Silly Watson, and even a live turkey into a chaotic window decorating escapade. As McGee piles in corn stalks, crepe paper, pumpkins, and pecks from an aggressive turkey, comedic mayhem ensues. Cameos from Nick DePopulous and a wisecracking little girl bring extra zing to the unfolding disaster, especially when McGee accidentally nails himself and Molly inside the finished display. Undeterred, he proudly declares the cost of escape will be deducted from his $30 fee. Complete with Johnson’s Wax promotions and restored for modern clarity, this installment of Fibber McGee & Molly delivers sharp wit, slapstick energy, and a perfectly fumbled finale worthy of a storefront showcase.
