Episode Description

Originally aired January 20, 1936, this episode finds Fibber McGee stepping into the world of pharmaceuticals as he takes over the Wistful Vista Drug Store for a day. From prescribing seeds for a cold to concocting mysterious medicinal mixtures that turn customers into squawking birds, McGee’s tenure as temporary druggist is filled with spectacular mishaps and absurd remedies.   Molly struggles to keep up behind the soda fountain while Silly Watson brings in a horse with the heaves, leading McGee to attempt veterinary heroics—inside the store. Add in a high-society lady with a case of the hiccups and Fibber’s unforgettable dual cure (involving a pen and a startled stallion), and the result is radio comedy chaos of the finest vintage.   Complete with Johnson’s Glow Coat ads and remastered for clarity, this side-splitting episode of Fibber McGee & Molly proves once again that putting McGee in charge of anything is bound to end hilariously.
