Jealousy

Lucia Urant lives in a cliffside mansion with her husband Gilbert and half-sister Beverly. When she begins having recurring visions of a spectral figure reaching for her and suspects Gilbert and Beverly of plotting to poison her, Lucia fakes her death and disappears. Overhearing the pair discuss leaving the country, she returns to confront them with a gun. The Whistler reveals that Lucia’s jealousy led her to stage the entire episode—she planted the poison and misread innocent actions—and her attempt at revenge collapses when her husband admits his feelings but denies any murderous plot.
