Episode Description
In this episode of The Whistler, titled 'The Dead Man Laughed,' Charles Finch, a man swindled out of his company, seeks revenge on his partner, Malcolm Guthrie. Finch enlists the help of a shabby tramp, Henry Baker, who resembles him, in a plot to stage a murder and disappear using the tramp as a decoy. However, Finch's plan backfires when the tramp's fingerprints are found at the crime scene, leading to his arrest and subsequent execution for a murder he committed to frame himself. The episode culminates in a chilling and ironic end, as Finch, now in the persona of Baker, meets a dark and twisted fate.
