Hit and Run

In the episode 'Hit and Run' of The Whistler, Hillary Gaines and Mildred plan to leave her husband, but when they accidentally hit and kill him in a hit-and-run, their lives take a dramatic turn. As they try to cover their tracks, they are blackmailed by a man named Baldwin. Desperate to get rid of him, Hillary plans his murder and takes the key to his safe deposit box, only to find out that Baldwin was planning to leave the country and was likely blackmailing him for a substantial amount. With all the evidence pointing against him, Hillary finds himself in a precarious position, ending in a twist of fate with the discovery of a ticket on the next ship to South America in Baldwin's pocket.
