Joe proposes to Clarice, but she expresses doubts about their compatibility due to his lack of culture and education. Determined to improve himself, Joe volunteers for an experiment that uses a machine to transfer knowledge directly into a person's brain. After undergoing the procedure, Joe emerges with an impressive command of art-related concepts, impressing Clarice and rival Sam at a party. However, the knowledge fades quickly, leaving Joe in a panic as he tries to maintain his new persona to win Clarice's affection. He learns the machine has been dismantled and will take a month to be reassembled, but he is eager to get married. Clarice ultimately agrees to his proposal after believing he has genuinely changed, with Joe planning to marry her immediately, neglecting the need for culture in favor of romance.
